I like the idea of holding the handle so that the blade is open for cutting and the blade retracts when the handle is released. However, this is not the best quality. I have to constantly adjust the tension to keep my balance, keeping the blade tight enough to cut straight and loose enough that the blade retracts immediately when the handle is released. I think it's ok considering the price and the extra blades, but when I'm cutting fabric (which can be quite expensive), precision in quilting is very important.
