Thanks to Ford, this part was incredibly complex and difficult to install. The dealer wanted to charge $800 to replace that $40 under-dash part. Now I think it might have been worth it. The part, once installed, solved the popping noise and lack of heat (both front and rear on my 2002 Explorer XLT). If you are not patient and not very flexible, replacing this part might not be a good DIY project. Lots of YouTube videos helped but didn't convey the extreme ergonomic demands of the process. On the other hand, I am 74 years old and I made it.
