I bought 8 of these pickaxes and installed them in my house to lure the little girl to safe places and keep her away from other places I don't want. I've been using them for 2 years and now take them off a few doors.Pros First - They work. Adhesion is excellent. I've never dropped them. My older children could easily use them while a toddler could not. Tip: I turned them upside down. As a result, you rarely need to activate the moving part of the lock, as small children are usually not big enough to turn the doorknob up to open the door. You can only pull down, which hits the plastic lock before the door opens. Cons - Terrible distance. They say you should use a hair dryer to heat the glue and use dental floss to separate the childproof lock from the door. Yes No. This method had my finger cut by the floss and ripped the paint and wood material off the door. I have tried many tools for safe and harmless removal. The best of them was a glue softener along with a 15 inch metal pry bar. Go slow, it will come off without damaging the door.
