Before I found this siphon, I gave up vacuuming with siphons that have to be shaken vertically or horizontally to start the water flow. Instead, I sucked on the end of the hose until water came out. Sometimes water got into my mouth from the tank. not the most pleasant. THEN I FOUND IT! Hooray! I gathered it in a harness and drove off. I prefer the transparent suction part because I can get dirt that is deep in the substrate. One improvement I would suggest is that the manufacturer put in a suction cup that holds the end of the bucket (where the water comes out). But in general I am calm and happy!
