Review on Optimized Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical Lens for Sony E-Mount by Ryan Pollock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost Perfect

This lens is almost perfect. Unless you want a low-end (but artsy) look, don't worry about a cheap alternative like the 7artisans 35 f/1.4. You might think this or the Mitikon (Zhongyi) 45mm f/0.95 would be a good low light lens. They are not here! This lens is sharp (in the center, almost to the edges) at f/1.2. Bokeh only exists when you are close to the subject (as you would expect from a wide-angle lens). The CA, magenta and green fringes are the same as what you get in a Sony GM lens (mostly zero), so you're basically getting a non-AF GM lens.
