We started using this oiler to keep cats away. We have purchased the same style 3 times after each time a rotten (kitten) baby has been 'helped' to the floor. It is much cleaner than the standard flat bottom and domed top oiler; The oil stays on the lid and does not smudge. Depending on the season, we move it from the cupboard to the fridge and between the chopsticks straight into the dishwasher. The bottom is deep enough to hold all of the melted butter without messing it up if we over-soften it in the microwave. It's nice enough to be served to the table right away. The butter dish holds a full pound of butter, but we usually limit ourselves to two sticks.
