My TV, soundbar and 4k video sources (particularly PlayStation 4) do not match on EDID (where the TV tells other devices what resolutions and frame rates it supports) and HDCP (horribly defective hardware protection protocol). Copy). When connecting my devices to the soundbar, the audio worked but the video was a blank screen. It was a nightmare. I plugged it in and suddenly it's easy. is working. It's just not magic. The only exception is that (I found) this device does NOT support the Audio Return Channel (ARC) specification. Anything plugged directly into the TV's inputs (and not through the soundbar) gives me video but no sound. (The TV just plays everything through its crappy internal speakers.) As a result, I have to plug everything into the soundbar for it to work, rendering my two TV inputs useless, but that's enough for me for now - the soundbar is fine for my current setup. So if you buy this you know it works like a charm but doesn't back process ARC audio.
