Easy to install but the back panel needs to be a bit thicker

These strips are convenient and relatively easy to fit, but it would be nice if the back panel was a little thicker and there were slots for long handles. the instruments were somewhat wider. I installed one of these inside for a broom, mop etc with tape and the other in the garage with screws and both were easy to install. Of course, with tape, you simply peel off one side of the backing with double-sided tape, stick that side to the backplate, then peel off the other backing from the other side and stick it on the wall. You'll probably want to use a level to make sure you level it if you have one. So I just screwed it directly into the studs instead of using drywall anchors, although drywall anchors are included in case you don't have studs exactly where you need to install them. Of course, as always when installing something in drywall, you should check where the studs are and where you're drilling the holes for live wires before you begin. Since I was screwing it directly into the studs and not with dowels, I needed much smaller holes than the recommended 6mm dowels. I used a 3/32" drill bit to make the screw holes and it worked great. There are only 2 screws on the ends of each organizer to install the screws. This makes installation easier, but it also means that the center doesn't have much support, especially since the backplate isn't particularly thick metal. A slightly thicker backplate and/or a different screw mount somewhere closer to the center would be a nice design improvement. For the bar, which I installed with screws, I have a shovel, hoe, and broom dangling from three handle slots. Handle slots fit 7/8 inch diameter handles on most lightweight indoor tools. They will fit 1 1/2 inch diameter handles on a pick and shovel, but they are close to their limit and it takes a significant amount of force to get these large handles in and out of the slots. In this orbit, the center lifts slightly from the wall (ie bends forward) under this load. It still looks like it will hold up without too much trouble, but the center really needs to either be thick enough to stay flush with the wall, or add another screw near the center. Of course, while it doesn't hold as much weight, using the glue option allows the back panel to remain flush with the wall as it's fully glued. It looks like both organizer strips are holding up well.

Pros
  • Home storage and organization
Cons
  • Small parts
