The problem is not the size. The snake ornament is cheaply made. The first day I thought the pain I was feeling was just an adjustment to the piercing. I got progressively worse and after a week I couldn't sleep on that side. I've had this piercing for two years. It's very healed. By the end of the week it was becoming painful to the touch so I took it out. I concluded that the cheap snake trimmings fell off and got stuck in the puncture sites, causing severe pain and irritation. Where there used to be gold or something else, it turned green and dried blood formed behind the snake itself. 🤢 I took my piercing off and it stunk so bad! The latch is fine, trying to make it "cool" with the snake failed and left me with a hot, red, sore, disgustingly painful ear!
