First, let me clarify something. I'm a 64 year old rider (30 miles 2-3 times a week, definitely not a pro) who wanted to take it to the next level. At my bike shop's suggestion, I asked them to fit these pedals to my new carbon frame bike. Considering my level of riding I am very happy to have used these pedals both spiked and platform. The combination of my CF bike and clipping improved my speed performance. As other reviewers have pointed out, the clip springs are a little tight at first, but get much better after a few rides. Also, as I've been told, once you get used to the snapping, it's a matter of time, not whether you'll fall over. So practice somewhere safe to adjust before hitting the road. Finally, the cleats with the pedals are included. and they are not difficult to install (use lubricants as recommended). $16 (on sale) for replacement cleats seems a bit pricey. I hope my first set lasts a long time. Overall, these Crankbrothers Doubleshot 2 pedals work for me. Hope that helps.
