Fits perfectly but brackets must be sheet metal

Radio front panel and brackets fit perfectly on my 2000 Lexus GS400. My project was to remove the outdated factory navigation/stereo/climate touchscreen and fit a modern dual din android radio. The car was available with either a standard stereo/tape player with a separate climate control panel, or a premium touchscreen navigation system that also controlled the climate controls and radio/CD player (which was in my car). Removing the old sat nav/radio also removes the climate control (no way!). However, I found that I could remove the navigation and install a standard stand alone climate control panel (I found the one used at eb*y) and the wiring harnesses for the navigation box connected directly to the climate control panel and the system was turnkey! What was missing from the installation project were 2 vertical brackets (left/right) to mount the radio and climate control panel to the dash, and a front bezel for the 2-DIN radio (to neatly fill the gap between the radio and the hole in the Dashboard). This Scosche LS2083B kit included everything needed for installation and all the parts fit together perfectly. While the left and right plastic brackets fit, I found that the shape, application, and thickness of the parts required them to be sheet metal, as the flimsy plastic wasn't very strong or rigid. I ended up removing the carbon fiber mounts from the plastic, which proved to be more than strong and rigid enough to hold the components (although it took some effort to manufacture). The mounts also had the correct holes and slots to accept factory gear and supported aftermarket components as well. The front fascia panel came with a larger outer fascia to match the sides of the dashboard and overlying climate control fascia, and additional inner fascia. which snaps into place on the outside and fits snugly in my dual stereo system. While the black plastic trim pieces had a nice finish, I wanted them to match the OEM wood trim theme. I laminated the front panel with walnut veneer (real wood, not a printed decal) which worked out so well that I may now have to laminate the rest of the wood paneling on the dashboard/doors (hey!). The attached photo was taken during passport control and before the final sanding/coating/fitting. The scosche part is the trim around the radio which is black under the wood veneer and is perfect for the radio. I also made walnut trim for the climate control panel that can be seen above the radio. FYI, the plastic looks like ABS that has been melted, welded and smoothed with acetone. Although I went a little further, this kit was essential to complete my sound upgrade project.
