I took it as a second headphone. I can compare with my old open HD 590 of the same manufacturer. Open is more comfortable. In closed HD 280 basses are perceived a little stronger (probably due to the tight fit). Both open and closed headphones are needed on the farm. When you fiddle with sound for a long time, it is more comfortable in open ones. But on the other hand, to control the sound when singing under a minus (or when recording an acoustic instrument over a minus), closed ones are needed so that the sound does not creep into the microphone. I think those who listen to music in noisy environments will also appreciate the HD 280.
