You Light Up My Downlight

We live in a modern town center house with awfully low cornices. These soffits have a siding underneath that hides the wood panels. We had the most horrible, disgusting lamp there, which gradually became dangerous and just plain rude and ineffective. we need something However, due to the small clearance, we could not use just any device. My husband removed the old lantern and (oddly enough) used a 4" drill bit to drill through everything - the siding. Everyone. I couldn't watch. The box went into the hole without any problems, but then he encountered his first problem: he didn't want to leave the junction box directly on the reveal, but rather mount it on the rafter. "A hole to work with. He drilled a screw hole through the blank edge on the outside of the box so he could screw the screw in on the outside of the reveal (see photo). There are some very handy connectors you can use but for some reason my husband cut them off and used taped wire nuts.He said these were very good connectors but he was just stubborn and more comfortable with wire nuts (2.4 and 5.0 network) without much trouble. Results may vary. He then placed sealant around the outside of the flashlight, using the spring arms to force the flashlight to retract into the hole Bam Done It works well with Alexa with the Starfish app It's kind of a learning curve, but we'll get there some Problems changing the light color from white to amber, but the language is very specific (e.g. warm white, daylight white, etc.), consult the app for this, you can a also adjust the brightness. It complained a lot less of a light fixture than many of the other random "smart" lights he's installed, and it was a good fix for our home with gap issues.
