"Duilawyer" reviewer was right. This machine makes great foam although it doesn't make an espresso. Probably this type of machine cannot make a great espresso. You need the power of a pump machine to extract all of the flavor and "cream" from French or Italian roasted espresso beans. The fact that the instructions say not to force the coffee into the strainer should make it clear that the machine is incapable of making espresso. I had no trouble getting the machine to work and it makes good hot chocolate, latte, latte, good coffee, but it just doesn't make the necessary espresso drinks. Fans just have to apply.
