I bought toner cartridges instead of going for an OEM replacement because of the cost. Tools and instructions for removing the chip from a used toner cartridge and then adding the chip to a replacement cartridge were included. It took me about 6 or 7 minutes to figure it out and make changes. So far I've only had to replace the original black cartridge so the next ones should only take a few minutes now that I know how to do it. Please note that the printer cannot tell you how much toner is left. still in the cartridge, so it's a good idea to have a spare handy. Given the cost savings, I think it's worth the small inconvenience.
