Review on Lenboken Transfer Controller Expansion PlayStation 4 by Carl Ferguson

The product arrived quickly, was easy to install and looks like it was specially designed for the PS4 Slim and although all the connections worked, not all worked properly. This basically installs over the PS4 Slim's front USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, adding a USB 3.1 pass-through port and 3 USB 2.0 ports. And while the USB 2.0 ports appeared to work correctly, I had real issues with an external drive connected via a USB 3.1 pass-through port. The problems seemed to start immediately. I turned off the PS4 through the OS to start the install and turned off the device after the lights went out at the shutdown command. USB HUB installed and restarted. Upon booting up, the PS4 OS told me that my external drive was not turned off properly (it was turned off correctly as I mentioned above, this is a PS4 coding issue). a few minutes before it shuts down again. I fixed it a second time and I had the same problem loading one of the games installed on that drive. At that point, the PS4 operating system told me that the corruption could not be repaired and that the only option for me was to reformat and repair. At this point I was fed up and decided to remove the hub and go back to the original configuration. When I did this PS4 OS asked me to fix the drive for the last time and it has been working without this hub ever since. I suspect there was a power issue in the hub itself that was causing attached USB drives to shut down, but I haven't confirmed it and haven't called the company as the issue seemed clear to me and I liked the overall concept . and the appearance of the hub, not only is it worth the hassle and potential data loss trying to figure out why the drive went offline. If you have a PS4Slim and a similar configuration (Seagate 4TB USB 3.0 PS4 Certified External Drive) I would recommend looking at other options as I am returning these. Have considered swapping, but can't persuade myself to do so after the data panic.
