Review on ⚡️ Enhanced Efficiency Video Blog BM786 Multimeter by Stephen Hobbs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Superior balance of higher level DMM features

I have been using an Extech EX330 DMM for about 5 years. The EX330 is an entry-level digital multimeter with a focus on electronics. It works well and is inexpensive. But this BM786 multimeter is a step up in every way. Also, it's physically about twice the size. This specially marked version of the Brymen BM786 is available exclusively through Dave Jones' EEVBlog. Bryman also has a few other models in this series - BM785 and BM789. This BM786 adds higher quality electrical sensors, a temperature sensor and a conductivity (nS) function in addition to what comes with the BM785. The BM789 adds AutoV LoZ, dBm, a second temperature sensor and 100MHz bandwidth. (These other Brymen DMMs aren't available in US retail stores, but you can find them in other countries.) Compared to my previous entry-level DMM, the BM786's implementation of every feature is simply more thoughtful, making the DMM one more useful feature - Range, Auto-Hold, True RMS, Record Min-Max Average, Crest (peak-to-peak), Delta etc. The BM786 seems very solid. This version of the EEVBlog comes in a royal blue reinforced silicone case. (Typically Bryman DMMS are red). The housing has slots for the supplied sensors for one-hand operation. The device requires 3 AAA batteries (included), has a backlight function and a large high-contrast LCD screen. The backlight turns off after 16 minutes. The device also has a 30-minute auto-off timer that can be turned off by holding the select button while turning it on. (Auto power off is also disabled during recording.) Be sure to read the downloadable PDF manual cover to cover to learn all the important details that will make using this meter so much easier. Most importantly, I support EEVBlog in a small way by purchasing this product. Thank you Dave!
