I bought this to upgrade to a Macbook 4.1 which has a maximum of 6 GB "real" and 2 (200 pin) SODIMM slots. Once I got Memtest86+ working (on the existing 2GB kit) I installed the 4GB SODIMMs, leaving the 1GB that was part of the 2GB kit in place. and now large) SODIMMs in mismatched sets is to put faster (and larger) SODIMMs in slot 0. The reverse path led to errors. Also, older (and more finicky?) sockets required the RAM to be firmly and fully seated, rather than plugging neatly into the socket (hardness was only slightly stronger, but 4GB wasn't "automatically" installed). After finding slot 0 and inserting the new 4GB, the system tested with no errors. I want to run virtual operating systems with it, so I need the maximum amount of RAM. Hooray!
