Review on πŸ”” Dakota Alert MURS Alert Transmitter (MAT) - Battery Operated PIR Motion Sensor with Telescopic Antenna - Enhancing Multi Use Radio Service by Chef Deane

Works as advertised

I need a second transmitter as my driveway is quite long. I'm getting false positives from wild animals, so the second node confirms that someone is approaching the driveway. Once I put the batteries in and set the correct channel, it was ready to go. Synchronized with the database. The transmitter is identical to that supplied with the base unit. The LED can be switched, the degree of sensitivity to objects and channels can be changed. There is nothing special about it other than being attached to a pole or tree. The case is waterproof and snaps into place. I noticed a bit of rust on the base of the antenna and the rubber coating may have made it more weather resistant. Overall this is a good addition to my Dakota system. If your driveway is quite long (>040km) it makes sense to have more than one transmitter. UPDATE: August 21, 2014 I've had it here in Virginia for a little over a year and a half. He survived wind, snow and heat. I change the batteries every four months. In autumn and winter there is a lot of interference from CB and cell phone signals. I have to switch channels every now and then. That would be nice except I would have to go to other receivers to change channels on the switches as well. The presence of more than one receiver confirms that it is just an animal in the woods and not a person or car approaching the house. If it is an animal it will not alarm in a sequence of zone one, zone two etc. It's good for detecting people, animals and cars, but I think I'll improve my security with a magnetic sensor that confirms approaching vehicles. Street.
