This item worked great - perfect fit for our 1997 Nissan Maxima SE

This item worked great - perfect fit for our 1997 Nissan Maxima SE. Watch some YouTube videos to see see how to fuel it - it's very easy **AFTER ALL THE OLD MAST HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE DRIVE**. Removing the device from the car took a maximum of 10 minutes. Opening the unit to get the rest of the nylon drive cable is easy with 5 or 6 Phillips screws. Where I hit a snag - and the instructions mention it - was removing the outer casing from the old mast (basically what's holding the antenna when fully extended and making a good electrical connection between the shaft and the cable) from the base of the mast was a pain. I took a long, larger diameter hex wrench to knock out the very stubborn outer segment of the mast at the foot - top to bottom (because there is a small stop that prevents the mast from standing up). Then I moved on to the real problem which was a very thin outer shell (you get a new one with the mast) which was basically rusted or somehow welded to the bottom of the tube attached to the drive. I played with a dremel tool that worked but only about 1 inch from the end. Sleeve length 3-4 inches. What finally worked was a 3/8" tapered round file (coarse) - after rubbing, twisting and watching little brass pieces fall out for about 15 minutes, it all came loose and stuck around the file. A little more work. than I expected but still a good inexpensive repair.
