Bose SoundDock Portable and Bose Soundlink

I'm not a Bose fan, but I have several Bose products. I don't buy Bose products just because of the name, they have products that just aren't worth the money. Some of their headphones are just awful. Yes, and some of their two-component acoustic systems with the Acoustimass module are not suitable. I ended up replacing them with floorstanding speakers from other companies like Polk Audio without the high price premium of Bose products. I own almost every Bose portable iPod speaker system, including the original Bose SoundDock and SoundDock II. They were decent for their time, but lacked an auxiliary port. Here is what you were looking for. I wanted to give buyers an idea of what each has to offer and try to clear up the confusion. Bose SoundDock Portable offers: 1. Better sound than Soundlink. The bass is just way better with the SoundDock Portable than with the Soundlink. Why? Because the SoundDock Portable has a real bass reflex port and the Soundlink has a converter on the back that acts as a bass speaker. SoundDock Portable offers the best mids and highs. Easily replaceable battery. Soundlink does not have easy access to the battery and requires more work.4. Provides up to three hours of audio on a single charge on loud settings. You can get more playing time by turning down the volume. Soundlink offers less playback time but charges faster. Bose Soundlink offers: 1. Bluetooth capability. But that comes at a price. You see, the sound coming over Bluetooth isn't as clear as when connected directly.2. Small size. Due to its much smaller profile, it is much easier to transport. Forget about transporting SoundDock Portable when traveling. You really need to think about the packaging of this item as it is bulky and although you can cover the iPod connector it is still a big device.3. Integrated lid that can be closed.4. Charges faster than the SoundDock Portable, which takes 10 hours. Soundlink loads much faster. If you're looking for better sound, SoundDock Portable is for you. It better fills the room with sound, and if bass is important to you, this is definitely what you need. The Soundlink has bass, but it can't beat the SoundDock Portable's port. Both speakers have an AUX port for those who don't have an iPod or iPad. I give the SoundDock Portable four stars because it's a decent sound system. This product cost $400 when it first launched and it was outrageous. If portability is what you're looking for, you have to go with Soundlink. You sacrifice some of the sound that the SoundDock Portable has to offer, but you really can't carry it around as it's too bulky. Also, you'll need a case for it since it doesn't have a built-in lid. As you can see from my photo it has scratches from being carried around. You will come across things. Don't get me wrong, SoundDock Portable is built to last. It only scratches slightly. My only criticism of this speaker system is that the top of the highs and the bottom of the bass are cut off. and I find the same characteristic in other Bose speakers, especially Cube speakers. It's like the sound is compressed. But other than that, this system sounds decent and still outperforms other iPod/iPad speakers from other companies. The smaller size of the speakers limits the sound you can get from them. You cannot do without a fully-fledged home stereo system with full-blown loudspeakers. But then you can't carry them around and take them to the beach or even to the yard, can you? The smaller size of the speakers limits the sound you can get from them.
