I've had a remote reading thermometer before but was drawn to this model's ability to set a temperature change of 1 or 5 degrees and then display light as the area is scanned. whose color indicated whether this change threshold was exceeded in a positive or negative direction. The issue that forced me to return the product was that the initial reference temperature setting occurs right after the unit is turned on, but a second or two before the unit sets the actual target temperature. This made the 1 degree differential setting pointless as it almost always kicked in when the actual temperature was eventually captured. In the end, I decided it was a little better than just remembering the starting temperature and calculating the difference in your head, a method available for other similar thermometers that only cost around $10-$15.
