Review on Diono Radian 3RXT SafePlus, 4-In-1 Convertible Car Seat, Rear And Forward Facing, SafePlus Engineering, 3 Stage Infant Protection, 10 Years 1 Car Seat, Slim Fit 3 Across, Black Jet by Greg Baker

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I've bought multiple for 2 years now. Things have changed. SO DIFFICULT TO TIGHTEN A BELT!

LIKE MANY OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE SAID, Diono has changed their seatbelt release latch, and basically made it impossible for the kid to remove his own seatbelt. Secondly, and this was even true earlier on, it's super difficult to fully tighten a belt. It gets stuck as you tighten, and you can feel there's still a gap but you can barely pull anymore. Tightening it up to where it's safe is like wrestling a bear. The only reason I went for the 3rd one is because I already have 2 and I wanted all 3 to match in my one row. They also took away the padding from the back and its bare now. Not that it can be seen as it's against the seat, but, why take it away? It looked much nicer before. Saving the cost of a little bit of fabric and a zipper? You make one of the most expensive car seats out there, you should at least give us that zipper!I have Graco in my other vehicle, and they remain super easy to tighten. Not as slim, their version of the narrow car seat is comparable. They too have changed their release latch to make it more difficult for the kid to undo themselves. I can see how it could be a safety issue, but I think for the most part, if a kid can reach the release latch, they're probably old enough to know when they're allowed to take off their seat belt, IMO.

Pros
  • ‎100% Polyester
Cons
  • The seat is on the heavy side and can be difficult to carry around
