These filters are intended to be a replacement for another original filter. In fact, these filters lack rubber washers that are installed at the ends of the filters to prevent sand from entering. After several emails over the course of about a week including photos of the original as well as a replacement, I was told that the filters would work fine without the washers. end of discussion. We will see. I'm pretty sure the Originals didn't just have pucks for show - they had to be there for a reason.
