The main advantage of this mouse is that it has programmable buttons and built-in memory. The onboard memory basically allows you to save your mouse settings and then transfer them to another computer to keep those programmed buttons working. Without built-in memory, programmable keys only work on the computer on which the software is installed. So this becomes important when you move your mouse between different computers or work in a place where you don't have administrator rights to install software. Few mice come with built-in memory at this price point. So Logitech offers two different software that you can use to program your peripherals. There's the old Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) and the newer Logitech G Hub. This mouse only works with older LGS models - it does not work with G Hub. At the moment, G Hub doesn't offer many things that you can't get from LGS, but who knows what's in store for us in the future. Back to the programmable keys - you can save any key press or combination of keys to onboard memory. Keystrokes (like Ctrl-Something or Ctrl-Alt-Something), but you can't store a whole series of keystrokes in memory. If you want to save more complex commands, you need to have LGS software installed. All in all, this is a pretty comfortable mouse. It's lightweight, so if you prefer a heavier mouse, this mouse isn't for you. The LED lights are useful as they change as you switch between 3 different saved profiles - each profile can have differently programmed buttons as well as different dpi.
