These knives are too dull to pierce an oyster hinge properly and the blade is too wide. The tips of the knives were completely blunt and not afraid to cut themselves or oysters. The blade needs to be narrower so you can stick it in deep enough for the spin to open the oyster a bit, but the blade is so wide that you can't use good leverage to open it. I gave up pretty quickly and got better results with a sharp kitchen knife, the tip of the blade was narrow enough to work with. The gloves looked ok but I didn't try their protective properties for obvious reasons.
