To be honest. It's not so much about the knife as it is about the technique and the person holding the knife. The glove certainly adds a sense of security. All in all great quality at a great price.

Don't settle for the cheapest brands or cleaning tools. It quickly collapsed. Not strong enough to withstand the force of an oyster hinge. You need a strong extraction tool that can withstand the shell being ruptured without breaking it. The gloves are also thin. Use a towel to hold the oyster.

These oyster knives worked well, allowing me to shell 48 oysters the first time. My hands are slightly larger than average (size XL or sometimes L with other gloves) but the stab resistant gloves that came with these knives fit perfectly. In fact, they could accommodate arms even bigger than mine.

Just received and used one of the knives for the first time when frying oysters. A good, strong blade and handle perfectly opened oysters. Everyone liked it. Brought home, washed and dried. The next day it started to rust! Send it back and get something much better. I think this is an example of "you get what you pay for".

These knives are too dull to pierce an oyster hinge properly and the blade is too wide. The tips of the knives were completely blunt and not afraid to cut themselves or oysters. The blade needs to be narrower so you can stick it in deep enough for the spin to open the oyster a bit, but the blade is so wide that you can't use good leverage to open it.
