My wife and I love oysters. For her birthday, I scheduled monthly shipments of fresh East Coast oysters for several months, which meant I became the family's oyster supplier. Before that, we mostly enjoyed them in restaurants. Customers considering ordering oysters by overnight delivery may want to do some research before ordering this set, as some regular providers of the service include a set as an incentive with their first delivery. This was not the case with the providers we chose and that was fine too. So I went to Revain and got this kit which turned out to be pretty standard. I can really attest to the value of these cut resistant gloves because I managed to hit my "holding hand" nice and hard. one of the oyster knives, and although it left a slight bruise, it didn't pierce the glove or my skin. Wow! Without a glove, I would certainly have gone to the emergency room for some stitches. Knives are standard, durable oyster knives. This set comes with a yellow rubber oyster holder but my orientation was on how to do it with my hands, gloves and an old towel and I prefer to use it. So for me the yellow rubber tool is included but I don't use it. Cleaning oysters is exhausting! Cooking a dozen for dinner takes some brawn, fine technique, and sweat, and it's not for an attempt with a sore wrist or a weak arm. You literally break the connection point of these very strong, hard shells and then move the blade of the knife forward until the top shell comes loose. It takes a little learning and effort! If you're willing and I'm already a veteran, this is a great kit to buy. Inexpensive too.
