The knives themselves aren't bad, and we were even able to open branded oysters, which have an intricate seam that minimizes slippage and cuts to the knuckles/hands, but if you expect a real mesh protective glove, this is not it. The glove is basically a scratchy fabric, not like the ones you see in restaurants, so don't rely on it to protect your hand if you slip. The glove helps to grab oysters a little better, we didn't find the yellow grab that comes with this kit very helpful.
