In the end they actually sent this product back. Despite a good mix of good and bad reviews, we decided to order and try this paper shredder. Unfortunately, on first use it was very. cheesy. I thought maybe it was user error as I had never used an auto feed shredder before. I tried to crumple up the pages because if I put them straight into a pile the machine would stall. It has a setting to automatically clear jams and tried to clear the jam itself but never did. I will say that clearing the jams yourself was pretty easy, so maybe that's a plus? We ended up keeping it for about a week. Over the course of a week, I decided to log how many times I shredded things and how many times they got stuck, and that was about 50% of the time. The last day I used it I decided to give it another try and it ground great! before. I put a stack of papers in the automatic shredder and it just stopped shredding. As if it wasn't jammed, it worked great, just didn't realize there was paper in there. I have to say the manual feed worked fantastic! He easily ate staples, paper clips, and thick paper. The auto feed feature just messed this shredder up for me as it doesn't work properly. I opted for the good old hand feed chopper, maybe the technology isn't up to date yet.
