Wicked Edge is disgusting crap. I have used other methods to sharpen my blades over the years. From the 2x72 inch belt sander (for the ones I made) to whetstones and the Lansky system. I couldn't get the desired results with the whetstones. Lansky's kit had clip issues on the blades (for the entire time it lasted), plus I mixed up the clamp screws used. After hearing so many good things about Wicked Edge products, I thought it was time to give it a try. I ordered the Pro Pack 1 on Friday and it arrived on Saturday (a day earlier than expected) and started stocking up pocket knives that needed help. It was easy to attach the blade (most were never sharpened, just set aside when not sharp enough). Now they are very sharp. Used on my Shun 6" utility knife and now it's insanely sharp. It took some attention to keep it sharp too (due to the curvature of the blade). I picked up the storage case for the Pelican Vault V300 system (arrived Sunday) so I could travel with it. Brought it to my sister/mum and used it there. On Sunday I sharpened two for my mother and three for my sister. Sister's knives were stupidly dull. Now they are insanely sharp. Or wickedly sharp .Took three more home (two for my sister) and took care of one last night for my sister.I had to put them in folded cardboard (seal with tape) so my mum wouldn't cut herself when she took them back. Next I will touch up my kitchen knives as needed. In 17-18 years of operation I've only had to sharpen large blades once.Once I use this system (to make sure en they are cut to the correct bevel) they will be MUCH easier to maintain. I know some people want a granite base with a system. I don't see the point. The aluminum base has sufficient mass/weight. Also, I'm not worried about it falling and breaking (can happen with granite). Not to mention I don't want the entire system to weigh much more than it does now. I currently leave the base on the system in the case (I cut the foam to accommodate this setup. If I use the leather "rocks" I put them in plastic bags (separately) and put them in the case too. Eventually I will finish with a scissor attachment as I have a set that needs some maintenance." That's about it. I was really just in doubt about which one to go for. All my kitchen knives require a 16 degree blade. So buy a pro pack." 2 is not brought, my pocket knives are made at a 20 degree angle so choose the setting based on what angle you need to be able to handle the blades, also I'm very specific about how my blades are handled I want that someone else will sharpen them. I have inexpensive knives (mostly a Shun Classic with one of the 9" Kaji planes). Not to mention I can now get anything down to a razor blade in a short amount of time (<30 mins) ut for the majority).
