Our chair legs are tapered. They fit fairly well and are actually difficult to put on when new. After a while, they stretch and don't hold up anymore. The woman says that she read, if you put them in hot water, they will relax and return to their place. But we're too lazy to try. But still they last a lot longer than pad sticks and don't pick up lint/dirt like felt pads usually do. Basically happy with them. The legs of our chairs are not flat but tapered. They are standing on a hard wooden floor. If we were on a floor with edges like tiles or something I don't think they would have held up. But on a smooth floor they lasted maybe 6 months before I noticed they weren't holding up very well.
