This is a mid-range Bell helmet, typically over $200 and one of the cheapest helmets I've seen with a DOT and Snell rating. You can find it even cheaper in some colorways, so this is an absolute steal. The Hart-Luck Gloss/Matte Charcoal/White/Red Skull I ordered was $139. The skull graphic and pinstripe are a little "fair brother!" for my taste, but they're pretty muted on the back of the helmet too, so it was worth the $70 savings. A very pedestrian white and gray color scheme was also available at this price point. The exterior finish is nice and doesn't show too many fingerprints unlike most matte finishes. This helmet is big. I have a 24.75" head which according to the Bell size chart for this helmet is an XL size, but I found XL to be too roomy and if you go to XL you get the largest of the three shell sizes. , and the XL shell is *really* a big helmet. The large helmet fits me well, a bit tight, but it doesn't have any hot spots and I think it will "give in" a little after a few dozen hours on my head. (I'm exactly in-between sizes, but I prefer the large, especially after seeing how big the XL body was) It's a very quiet helmet with great vents. You can feel the airflow past the face shield and the top of your head even at low speed, so the face shield doesn't get dirty and you feel comfortable. The protective glass itself is very nice, distortion-free and has a very wide field of view. Looking forward I can't see the sides of the helmet which gives a nice "open" feel. The downside is that there are really only two positions: locked and all the way up. I like to break my shield a notch when cruising around town and with this shield it really is impossible. It works smoothly though, the middle tongue moves easily with either hand and it has some "opening assistance" when you start flipping it up, it continues all the way to the locked position. Unlike other sights I've used, it locks securely in the down position with a fairly loud "click". Mine only came with a clear visor, I've read some of them come with clear and smoked visors. Everything is fine inside the helmet. finished and nicely finished. I found the cheap helmets showed up well on the inside, while the Bell feels premium throughout. All liner is removable and washable (it can be tricky to put the crown pads back on. The cheek pads are replaceable and you can order any size from XS to XXL from Bell to customize your fit. (I can order a smaller sized cheek pad size). to give my beard a little more room) The foam on the ears has cut outs to accommodate the speaker system in the helmet The standard double D chin strap with a button tab for attachment is from older helmets and is necessary to allow the end of the strap doesn't whip when riding.) I really have nothing but good things to say about this helmet, except that the sizing chart is a bit off at least at the high end, and I wish there was a notch like that on the visor "for the city." But even with it I would buy another one tomorrow with this limitation. Good coverage.
