I got this 15 inch bulb to replace a very weak bulb on my 10 gallon bulb. I attached the flashlight to the top of the hood and didn't use the suction cups that came with it. The light has five intensity levels: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. I photographed the light at each brightness level to show the difference (I kept all camera settings the same). I usually keep the light level at 25% and now my plants seem to be recovering. The only downside of the device is an inaccurate timer (it has settings of 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours); I don't know if all blocks have this or if I have a defective block. Every day the timer seems to be 5 minutes behind. For example, if I set the timer to 5:20 PM, the next day is 5:25 PM, then 5:30 PM, and so on. This is quite problematic as the lighting period eventually shifts to late at night. I have previously purchased other MingDak products such as B. the blue/white timer submersible light bar (for a different aquarium) so I was surprised that the built in light timer didn't work. However, adding a red LED to this light makes the output more attractive.
