Great item. I bought a few of these and actually use one as an everyday down converter for a TV and home theater that I have in the USA where the voltage and my products are 110-120v (in my country the national grid is 240v) There is a small switch that you set to your line voltage - [Except here: the values on this switch are 115V and 230V, but almost all devices work in a certain range, ie 110-120V and 220-240V.] .The converter converts an input voltage of 110-120V to an output voltage of 220-240V or voltage from 220-240V to 110-120V using a simple 2-to-1 or 1-to-2 circuit No current conversion (amps), just voltage Sometimes I hear a faint buzzing from the inverter, when it has been running for several hours. At first I thought it was a bes timmte device so I changed it but the new one also had the same problem. But in any case, even after months of humming, there are no bad effects and no overheating at all, so still 5 stars. And it serves as a warning that I watch too much TV! Some have complained about receiving defective units, but all of the 3500w units I ordered in October 2014 were in perfect condition and undamaged. Others have said so, and Litefuze itself advises it, but it's worth repeating. If you plan to use it for more than an hour, buy a converter that is at least twice as powerful as the combo gadgets you plug into the converter. So in my case, the following devices are connected to the converter: a 142W TV, a Vizio soundbar that is around 10W, and my 12W home theater. The math is 142 + 10 + 12 = 164 watts, so I needed at least 164 x 2 = 328 watts. The closest thing to that is a 500W converter - the extra power wouldn't hurt. A few notes: - I don't like the buzz after a few hours of use, but it's not loud and doesn't seem to cause any side effects anymore. .- But seriously, I wish the little switch to change the voltage was better hidden or more difficult to access. I set it to "230v" so it converts my 240v to 120v. But if a clumsy one accidentally changes it to the "115V" setting (which is easy to do with an easily accessible switch) then I think it gets upconverted to 1 2. So my actual 240V is outputting as 480V , which blows my electronics almost immediately! [Again this is just my opinion based on my understanding of how this thing works and I'm not an electrician. If it isn't, someone please comment on this post and correct me - I'll change it immediately]. - The block itself is quite heavy, about 300-500 grams (half a kilogram). So keep that in mind if you plan to use it for travel. I don't know, so the weight isn't an issue for me. All in all, these flaws are still small enough to deserve a full 5 stars. Excellent goods!
