Bright color! (with application tips)

Before I explain the best way to apply this color, I want to say that I am NOT a professional colorist or hairstylist. This is exactly what I've found to work well. My natural hair color is medium brown with some grey. The color I used was PURPLE and I applied broad strands of color to my hair. I didn't lighten before coloring but used a permanent brown color once the day before. The result is a gorgeous purple hue to the gemstone. I've done this twice and I'm very satisfied! As other reviewers have pointed out, this process can be very messy. Below are some tips to control unintentional discolouration during or after using Iroiro Semi-Permanent Dye: 1. Prepare your hair - either wash your hair the day before AND allow it to dry completely or wash on day before; Use minimal or no conditioner and NO styling products. This allows the hair to "absorb" the color optimally.2. Gather your gear. You need a regular glass/stainless steel bowl to place the paint in; the paint brush is easy to apply, especially on the face; at least 2 pairs of impervious gloves (one for application, one for rinsing); shampoo and conditioner; Clips, bobby pins and/or a disposable shower cap to keep colored hair at bay; a towel that may be either discolored or of a color that will not be spoiled by too much paint; plastic to cover surfaces and/or your skin that should not be exposed to chlorine bleach; and most importantly, a spray cleaner that contains bleach (I recommend the Lysol bathroom cleaner with bleach). It is also helpful to have paper towels and/or a cleaning sponge on hand.3. Application - Pour desired amount of dye into a bowl. If you wish, cover your shoulders with an old towel or plastic wrap to protect your skin. You can also use the "clothing optional" method to avoid ruining your outfit. Put on a pair of gloves and use your hands/paint brush to paint your hair in any design you like (all colors, steaks, tips only, etc.). Dripping paint onto a surface will stain it, so use a quick bathroom cleaner to stop the discoloration. If ink gets on your skin, wipe it off with a cleanser applied to a sponge/paper towel.4. Let the colors set - pin your hair up or use a shower cap to prevent your wet/dyed hair from transferring color to surfaces. Wait the recommended time; I let my paint dry for 30 minutes according to the manufacturer's instructions. You can also use a hair dryer to heat on low.5. Rinse - Put on a second pair of gloves before rinsing. Also flush, leaning forward; Flushing excess paint all over your body will bleach your skin! The best way is to use a handheld shower sprayer and lean over the tub. Rinse, rinse and rinse again until the water is mostly clear. This may take 10 minutes or more.6. laundry and air conditioning. Yes, it can slightly decrease the intensity of your color. However, if you don't remove the excess paint, it will stain your clothes, linens, and furniture, and even get on your skin when you sweat. Dirty, destructive and embarrassing! You may need to wash twice (I do). Rinse again until the water runs clear. Use the conditioner as usual. Blot excess water out of your hair with an old or discolored towel. At this point I only had a very faint stain of color on my white towel. I sleep on white pillowcases and have never had color transfer, although subsequent washing resulted in colored foam. Style as usual. I recommend using a shine serum (like Biosilk or Giovanni) to add shine and really bring out the color. Your initial result should be nice and bright. The downside of this color is that it washes out quickly. This is noticeable after the first 3-4 washes and continues to decrease with each wash. All of the brands I've tried have about the same color lifespan as they are semi-permanent. Pros: amazing color, smells great. I got lots of compliments! Cons: App can be messy, disappears pretty quickly. I hope this review helps. Have fun and live bright!
