This was just what I needed to remove the dust boots from our 2005 New Beetle without having to remove the intake manifold. It fits snugly on cylinder number 2 so take your time - it will slide across the trunk at the right angle. I did this in hopes of not having to change the wires, but unfortunately the last and easily accessible wire - cylinder #1 - had the spark plug cap in the trunk caught by the spark plug. The lid didn't come out so I twisted the lid a bit and it did - I pulled the lid out. Except for the cover, which was cut off and left on the connector. Come on, it's not the instrument's fault. I couldn't have undressed number 2 without her. But whoever installed boot number 1 badly lubricated the boot. So advice - IF POSSIBLE, PULL BACK AND TRY NOT TO TURN THE COVER WHEN REMOVAL SO IT HAPPENS AT THE PLUG!
