My baby is 17#, he is 6 months old, he is leggy and leggy mixed breed. The question that bothered me more was whether the car air conditioner would circulate enough cold air. I live south of Tampa, Florida and it gets very hot in the car most of the year. With high sides, thickness, and fleece lining, I was afraid it would get too hot. This design works well. The seat height is high enough with a slight front seat dip so I can point the passenger jets straight at him, even when he's lying down I can see his fur flapping. And he loves to suck AC. He seems to like this seat, he stays in it, he thinks it's ok because now he can look out the window without hitting me while driving. I have enough tether that with the window down he can just stick his head out the window and rest his front paws on the foam edge of the bed. The seat feels secure when buckled in the passenger seat, has enough room for more room to grow and still be able to curl up and take a nap. Knowing it's securely in place and not bothering me certainly contributes to safer driving. I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and this center bed takes up the entire passenger seat. I have a bucket seat that reclines slightly and this pet seat fits flat looks nice.
