The ratchet mechanism of the crimper is defective. I don't recommend it

These are the tools I usually buy at regular large hardware stores. It's not that the prices are better or you get the product right away, it's that you can return the product if something isn't right. added some new IP cameras to my existing setup. When making my own, I often run back and forth between the ladder with the poles and the wire box and crawl into the attic. From time to time I forget to move my cutting and crimping machine from place to place. The easy fix was to just get extra tools instead of lugging them around. I've routed a lot of cables for personal use and a decent amount for work. While I'm NOT a low voltage wiring pro, I've used enough crimping tools to get an idea of what I like and don't like. I sit unsteadily on ladders or awkwardly tucked into tight spaces to prefer ratchet pliers. I like the rubber grips and prefer the front loading mechanism. The cutting blades must be replaceable and the screws must be easily accessible. You probably know this isn't exactly what I wanted (and I knew that when I bought it). I was targeting price as this is essentially my backup crimping tool, so I was willing to ditch front loading in favor of side loading (a by-product of crimping multiple RJ types). So why two stars? Well, the ratchet isn't stable. It's not that the ratchet doesn't work, it's that it doesn't work more than 20% of the time. In fact, this is a non-ratcheting crimper. It could be that my device is defective, but that would be a quality control fee, right? Otherwise the instrument appears to be of acceptable quality. I have several small tools and they are all fine. As I said, YMMV, but I haven't had a good experience with this particular topic.
