The product fully corresponds to the description. This is a cast aluminum 5-point base for office and work chairs or some stools. Requires standard wheels. Fits standard hydraulic pistons. This does not affect the comfort of your chair in any way. Tested with: Noblechairs Epic Real Leather. Replacement of hydraulic cylinders in the aftermarket. Floortex polycarbonate chair mat PLUS: - Product as described CONS: - This is a HOLLOW base. It's not a solid piece of aluminum like I expected. It's just as strong as the one I broke before. I hope this one doesn't break. Such chair feet (including this particular one) are internally reinforced to support the weight directly from top to bottom. But if you've ever used a caster, you know that the wheels are offset by an amount proportional to the diameter of the wheel (larger wheels generally mean more offset). Thus, the weight of the seated person creates a primarily downward force as well as a rotational force on each of the legs. And this particular design does NOT account for this twisting force. Using large wheels with such a base will easily twist your legs when sitting in a chair and eventually cause fatigue fractures in unreinforced areas. Simply adding torsion bars would have made the product much stronger without a significant increase in weight. Or use steel instead of aluminum. Short version: The upgraded wheels on my beautiful office chair first broke the chair mat (damaging the wheels), which I threw away. The added rolling resistance of the wheels minus the floor mat gave the legs of the original factory base (which is very similar to this one) extra spin. The base broke near the wheel when I sat on it and upon closer inspection several of the other legs had stress cracks in the same place, all due to torsion from the upgraded wheels. I replaced the destroyed base with this product and it works great. But it could fail in exactly the same way, in the same place, and for the same duration as the original. I was hoping it would be solid and not hollow. This is emptiness. Time will tell if it will break like the previous one.
