Review on Nokian Tires Hakkapeliitta 9 205/55 R16 94T winter by Adam Gontarz ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm happy with it, the price and the quality, I recommend to buy it.

Size 225/50/17. Just over 5,000 kilometers driven. Even though it has front-wheel drive and 250 lb.-ft. of torque, the vehicle's acceleration dropped from 190 to 200 mph because a single spike fell off in the middle. Smoothly rolled a thousand kilometers. They are hardly passable on asphalt, especially for winter tires, but they shine on snow and ice. On the cold and icy road, I did not see any sudden halts in the demolition, which was rather predictable. I was the driver of Nordman 5 before Hakka 9. The rubber composition of Nordman 5 is considerably tougher on asphalt, where they perform admirably, but on ice and even cold weather (it gets hard), they are simply terrifying, while initially grinding decently. I almost forgot that Hakka 9 has such powerful initial slips. Although any tires can be completely worn down in a year or two of light use, the data on wear resistance is still sketchy. You can accept it on average, and whether or not the price tag matches the advertised quality is debatable; yet, the price is still excessive. On the first bd, I tried a set of contis, which are very reckless tires because they break into demolition with ease and simultaneously stabilize the car. They do better on asphalt, but I like Hakka 9 because of their superior grip on wet and slick surfaces. After two seasons of neglect, I noticed that one to three studs were missing from each wheel, so I had them replaced during the tire fitting. After three years of use, the tires have stiffened up and lane changes at high speeds feel smoother. I am quite pleased with the tires, particularly because they have prevented accidents on two separate occasions when it seemed impossible to stop. Right now, however, I think I'd go for a size 17 in icecontact 3 if I were to take it. Let's see what the future brings for surprises for Hakka, but these studded tires were top-notch when I purchased them.

Pros
  • Consistent performance on snow and ice.
Cons
  • On the road, I didn't care for it because it rolls a lot and slows down a fair amount, but it's bearable and might be much worse. While cruising about the city in gas-brake mode, without slipping, the cabin takes on the aroma of burnt rubber due to exceeding the speed limit on asphalt.
