You have to decide whether you want to use it to cut or to process dough. Because knives leave burrs that spoil the dough. I have wooden cutting boards and have used these for dough. I always leave it on the counter unless I need to clean it. It's too big to put anywhere in my kitchen. It's also a safe place to put hot pans and big enough to leave warm cakes on the wire rack to cool. Actually I really love it. Please measure the area before purchasing! It is big.
