I used this to manage the cords by my bed. The side hole was not needed and I would have liked it better without it. The top cover has small holes for you to run your phone charging cable through and the surge protection tape works with the cable coming out at one end. I think it was a big max for a plastic box but it did the job. I think they should have added velcro cable ties for free for that price. I ordered Velcro cable ties (4 inch) and got all my cables off the floor without tripping over them again. We have an extension cord to plug in my husband's lamp as we have a smart surge protector that works with WiFi. Now we can turn the lights on and off with our phone. I recommend it. I almost took a star off for the cost because of that.
