The hardware is fine, the supporting software is unreliable.

*Updated on 01/11/2018* I officially reject this NAS and will exchange it for another one from a different manufacturer. Sync now never works outside of my home network. I can also no longer access the toolbar even when connected to my home network. Using this device has been nothing short of 7 months of instability and frustrating software issues that seem to have no fix. Don't be fooled by Western Digital's response to this review - it didn't help at all. Now I just have to decide whether I want to try to sell the thing (I don't know if I can in good conscience) or burn it. *Original review* After five months of use, I'm still having the same recurring issues with the WD Sync software. It stops syncing and intermittently shows "Internet connection not detected" while my computer appears to have access to the Internet. If not, it hangs at "Login to MyCloudEX2Ultra" or reports that the device is missing. I've tried restarting the device, adjusting toolbar settings, configuring router settings, configuring firewall/malware settings on my computer, and uninstalling and reinstalling the WD Sync software many times - nothing works. Firmware update didn't help either. The software just seems extremely temperamental and unpredictable. When it works it's great and automatically syncs and backs up files between my desktop and laptop as expected. Unfortunately, however, I often have to use the My Cloud web interface to manually upload or extract files. At least I can say that the hardware has been reliable and I haven't experienced any data corruption or loss as other users have reported. However, this system doesn't quite work as expected and the software issues are really disappointing. I know many other users have reported similar issues, but unfortunately the support provided by Western Digital seems to be very lacking and the user-driven support forums are confusing, irrelevant or dead-end.
