Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Security and Performance with the Netgear RO318 DSL/Cable Internet Security Router by Chad Moser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Error free, efficient and easy to use. Highly recommended.

Here is a summary of my experience with this device (3+ months). During those months, I NEVER had to touch the router EVER. This baby becomes INVISIBLE because of your network problems. If you have decided to purchase this router, make sure to update the firmware to the latest version available on the netgear.1 website. The installation is very easy. The user interface is based on a web browser and you can be up and running in five minutes. The DHCP server in the router OS handles my NICs from different vendors very well. I have used xircom, netgear, 3Com, Melco/Buffalo and Dell cards (rebranded to 3Com) and a Trendnet CompactFlash NIC (for my Ipaq Pocket PC). All work smoothly with this block.2. The router is very fast. When connected via a cable modem, I get 1.5 Mbps consistently, which is limited by the cable provider's setting, NOT the RO318.3 router. It has EIGHT Ethernet ports. You'll quickly find that four ports on popular router models fill up quickly enough to make you wish you had more than four.4. Ethernet LAN ports are SWITCHED and not hub based, which means FASTER connection. I don't know about you, but I like a nicely designed box. This device looks and feels very sleek, solid and solid.6. For the more tech savvy, there is a command line interface for telnet-based configuration. More information about the security features can be found in the test report. I recommend this router unreservedly. This is the best value for money. In closing, I must say that I am surprised by another reviewer who seems to have missed everything that is good and useful about this router, which is needed by 99.9% of users (and the other 0.1% can live). quite convenient).
