I bought this USB 3.0 card hoping it would be compatible with my old trusty 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 with El Capitan. I read that in order to use a USB 3.0 card with an AS Media controller (ASM3142), I would need to download and install a "generic" kernel extension (called GenericUSBXHCI, written for Hackintosh PCs), what I didn't want to pretend like I hate messing around with my Mac system. But I also read that a "competing" USB controller from Fresco Logic (FL 1100) had native support for Mac drivers. it was true The card works great (insert it into slot 2 for maximum PCI speed) and offers an amazing three USB 3.0 ports PLUS two USB C ports! The only problem wasn't the function of the card, it was the length of the continuous bracket. It was about 3mm too long and required a lot of bending/forming at the top to lay it flat (the classic Mac Pro holds all expansion cards with a flat bar, so all bracket tops need to lie flat against the mounting flange).
