Receiver does not work beyond 8 feet, so it must be halfway between the TV and remote control in two different situations I've tried. The receivers on three of my TVs work well at >20 feet, but this one isn't sensitive enough for anything other than small apartment situations. The emitter also needs to be within < 15 feet of the cable box, which also doesn't work for my box which is in a large room. I actually got the system working by hanging the receiver between me (remote) and the TV AND hanging the transmitter in the middle of the living room, but that's obviously not an acceptable long-term solution. It also looks like using a USB power adapter that doesn't switch with the TV (as suggested) isn't a good solution, even in situations where receiver/transmitter ranges are adequate. The LED could be covered, but the loss of performance and the receiver's limited lifetime in continuous operation would be unacceptable. The product description should contain at least information on the maximum reception and transmission range.
