Our house has a small area with horizontal railings that is basically a climbing wall (which is so much more fun!). After several days of constant reminders to keep it up, we realized we had to find a better solution. This is the only one I've found that suits our needs, but if we didn't have the type of railings we have I would never have bought fencing and the mesh/mesh barriers wouldn't be strong enough to support a prevent climbing. A few things to know before you buy: - Although it is transparent, it is shiny and reflects light, so it cannot be visually detected. Handprints will also be visible, so add it to your weekly cleaning list! Including white cable ties. I bought the black ones separately to match our railing. We basically traded the ladder for a drum. Other reviewers have mentioned how loud it sounds once installed (and it really is), and your kid will enjoy banging on it. but i will live with it in the name of safety! - My hand still hurts from using the included hole punch. If you need to cover a large area, I would recommend buying a better one. Overall I'm glad we kept our stairs, but I don't like that I had to do this and I wouldn't willingly do it. Not absolutely necessary here either!
