Benro improved the version of Manfrotto monopod supported with A48FDS6. It's a little strange to get used to at first and I didn't fully understand the issue I was having until I contacted Benro tech support, but more on that in a moment. The monopod itself is a little heavy, but for the money it's quite worthy. If it were carbon fiber it would probably cost a lot more. It has strong bars for each section and allows for quick adjustments. The quality seems good, but while I don't use this thing every day, I can well imagine the section latches coming loose (this happens with every tripod/monopod I've ever had), but Benro has hex keys in this case provided. I also like that the upper is covered in comfy foam, making it easy to hold. In addition, the S6 head is surprisingly well constructed for a relatively inexpensive liquid head. It has a decent resistance setting (not as complicated as higher end heads) and I found it made for a smooth run and shoot. The quick-release screw is fairly close to the top of the head, so if you have a wide-base camera, adjusting it will take patience and practice. But the screw has a ratchet design, so it is easy to pull out from the head body, change the position and tighten or loosen. But the reason the A48FDS6 didn't get five stars from me is because of the design of the monopod base. . The tripod mechanism can be locked or unlocked with the red thumbscrew, allowing you to rotate the monopod on the base or lock it in position. Locking it down is great because it's sturdy enough and will stand up on its own (although I recommend you don't walk away from it, or at least put it in a bag!). But if you lock the legs to prevent the monopod from rotating and accidentally try to turn the head while it's locked, the base will start to unlock from the monopod base! NOT GOOD! So I called Benro support and they told me the only thing I could do was use locktight on the threads of the tripod base. This is not an ideal solution. If I ever wanted to use it without the three legs (which succumb to the screw cap with rubber foot for the monopod base) I'd have to take the thing apart and then put it back together. I don't plan on using it with just one leg so I'll use locktight but it's not the best design. Overall this is a good monopod and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a sturdy, albeit relatively heavy, monopod. , Camera support for run and gun style shooting.
