I recently found a free Kalamazoo horizontal band saw on Craigslist. I spent most of the evening getting it in my truck, bringing it home, and then putting it back on the ground, but I ended up with a free saw. Well, nothing is more expensive than a free tool. (except maybe a free car). This old Kalamazoo needed everything: a new motor, new bearings in the blade guide, hydraulic cylinder repair, etc. I worked on it just long enough to make it cut well enough and started using it. The blade that came with it wasn't very good, but it cut through aluminum and mild steel fairly well - better than a hacksaw, anyway. One day I heard a loud bang and found the blade finally gave way. I only use this saw occasionally and it's a hobby saw so I wanted an economical blade that could cut a lot of different materials. After looking around, I narrowed my choices down to this blade and the similar McMaster-Carr. After looking at the reviews I decided on this one. So far I've used it to cut aluminum, plastic, and mild steel. I think a few pieces of tool steel got in there too. Flawless so far - cut quality is good and surprisingly straight considering how wobbly this old saw is. The saw has no coolant, so I add a few drops of cutting oil to it every time I make a cut. I don't think you could get more for $22.
